Despite a top hotel, Ofterschwang and its small hamlets have preserved a traditional, rural character. And a proof of the purity of air and water is the fact that the whole village community is supplied with its own mountain spring water. In Ofterschwang, season is in every time of the year. From indoor swimming pool to sauna, from Kneipp basin to massage – everything is given in Ofterschwang, where you can perfectly combine natural holidays with well-being treatments. The Oberallgäu right in front of the door is a unique invitation for hiking and mountaineering. What do you prefer? Comfortably on a round hiking trail or a steep summit ascent, a sportive biking trip or with sticks on the Nordic Walking path, an interesting tour on the learning path with dairy visit, romanticism during a torch tour or informative on a guided herb excursion. And a walk through the Tiefenberger Moor – a rare high moor – is a must for you. In the stables, where you can also bring your own horse to, dressage and jump riding is offered. Longing for even more sports? Tennis (outdoor and indoor courts), squash, bowling – or have a look on the “green heart” from high above as a paragliding passenger. The heart of golfers will jump when having a look at the green of the GOLFRESORT Sonnenalp Oberallgäu.

What is even more beautiful than hiking and playing? Boundless water pleasures at the large lake in Ofterschwang. And the programme for children “Hörni-Camp” with its tents is here between the end of June and the beginning of September. By the way: in the whole community, no single cent is due for parking!

Like in the whole Allgäu, traditional festivals are part of the rural life in Ofterschwang. Around the maypole, on the mountains, in the village or during the Viehscheid (driving down the cattle from the summer mountain pastures) in September – yodelling, traditional costumes, alpenhorn and brass music is a must.

Ofterschwang is a skiing world-cup venue. On the village mountain, the Ofterschwanger Horn, Germany’s longest artificial snowing device guarantees white pleasures from summit to valley on 5000 meters. A 4-chair and a 2-chair lift, 3 T-bar lifts and two lifts for children are the access to 15 kilometers of prepared ski-runs, part of which is called “Märchenwiese” (fairytale meadow), promising magnificent natural experiences. From the training piste up to the wonderful Hörner tour – one of the most beautiful ski-tours in the Oberallgäu – skiers find optimum possibilities. For smaller skis, 15 kilometers of cross-country courses are prepared. And for those who like it even more romantic: hiking on cleared paths or horse-carriage rides through the marvellous scenery. An extraordinary pleasure with a thrill: the 2,5 kilometer-long night toboggan-run.
