Let yourself be told the story of the “Hirschsprung”, taste a sip of water directly from the mountain stream, try the handmade mountain cheese from the rural shop and enjoy the Allgäu hospitality on a mountain pasture or “d’rhuim” (at home) in your cosy holiday domicile. Then you will feel pure joy of life.

Everything is healthy here. The air is pure and free from pollen, the duration of sunshine is above average on the high plateau, the nights are cool and the Alpine bracing climate is good for you. Where springs origin in the rocks, one can confidently quench one’s thirst. Of course, an Allgäu beer or cow-milk are a pure pleasure, for the mountain farmers produce according to the Bavarian environmental quality seal “Offene Stalltüre” (open cowshed doors).

Small but worthwhile – what do you want more? Stylish accommodation, sophisticated food and drinks, let yourself completely be spoilt in the wellness hotel or the comfortable guesthouse. Fresh air and a portion of health – the best combination for pure well-being.
Whoever comes to Obermaiselstein has mountaineering and hiking shoes in the luggage. All altitudes are attractive: walking through meadows and forests, easy hiking tours through the pre-Alpine region or summit climbing with rocky areas. A must: a guided tour through the Sturmannshöhle, where the Allgäu has a break – a primeval times’ world!
Additional holiday activities – just do what you feel and like to do: paragliding as a passenger, rafting on the Iller, biking at the Iller or in the mountains, riding at the Haflinger stables or in the riding hall, tennis on two ash-courts, asphalt stick shooting, badminton, bowling – and of course golf in the GOLFRESORT Sonnenalp Oberallgäu (a few minutes by car).

Much attention is given to fun for children in the small village. Two mascots – cow “Maise” and deer “Lukas” – lead through a fantastic programme for children. There are four playgrounds, one barbecue and picnic site as well as a play-golf-park with greens. A ride with the horse-carriage or stroking animals in the Alpine wild park is much fun as well. The programme for children “Hörni-Camp” is present between the end of June and the beginning of September with its tents.

Entertainment is oriented towards tradition and snugness. The “Haus des Gastes” is the location for local evenings, dancing, theatre, teddy bear, doll or orchid exhibitions, lectures or simply for reading, relaxing or enjoying a good meal. For children, there is of course a play corner as well as a special ticket is offered. A stroll through the spa gardens, putting arms and legs into the Kneipp basin, or just have a look at the 500-year-old village church with its famous angel altar – relaxation will certainly not fall short.

Grasgehren – Riedberger Horn (5 km) is the Obermaiselstein skiing area, where a free shuttle ski-bus takes you to and from. This “snow hole” between 1400 and 1700 meters guarantees total skiing pleasures for all demands from December to the beginning of May: seven lifts, great ski-runs, artificial snow if necessary. Somewhat more easygoing, but nevertheless sportive in the village: skiing, snowboarding and toboggan at the Kinder-Idealhanglift (ideal lift for children) [hiring out of toboggan]. Hose-toboggan under floodlight or torch hiking tours. Cross-country on five courses, from soft to demanding, ice-skating, ice-stick shooting and snow-shoe hiking tours – or simply get your fill of sun and enjoy the glittering world during a walk or a horse-carriage ride.
