Fischen

Fischen is the target station of the five villages, flatly situated above the Iller valley – the Allgäu mountain range as a vast scenery. Journey there via the A 7 and the B 19 or by a very good train connection via Kempten – Oberstdorf.

Does the name Fischen come from “fischen” (fishing)? Maybe it derives from the marvellous trout in the Auwaldsee – an inside tip for anglers! Water definitely plays an important role in the climatic health resort Fischen: at the origins of the Iller, three kilometers upstream, a natural water-treading basin is awaiting all Kneipp lovers. With ambulant bathing cures, the preventive compact cure “Dysstress” as well as specific physiotherapies one gets even more one’s fill of health during holidays. Wonderful! Several hotels for well-being offer relaxing beauty and wellness programmes. A leisure and wellness park with fitness section, sauna, solarium, badminton and squash welcomes its guests. Concerning the gastronomy – be it national or international – also no wish remains unfulfilled.
Of course, lovers of nature get their share of hiking. An extensive network of hiking paths stretches on an altitude of 1200 to 1700 meters, in the west more flat, in the south more Alpine. There is much to learn and experience on a forest and water learning path, and while biking on mountains and through valleys, pure natural pleasures are guaranteed. Tennis freaks have five ash-courts at their disposal, golf fans a boundless green – in the GOLFRESORT Sonnenalp Oberallgäu, the second-largest in Bavaria.

Holiday fun for adults and children – this is what the family and leisure adventure swimming pool has to offer with its 58-meter-long water-slide. The “Hörni-Camp” children programme is present between the end of June and the beginning of September with its tents. Is there any time left for minigolf or romping on several playgrounds?

The assembly rooms in the health resort Fiskina are the meeting point as far as entertainment is concerned: from theatre to classics, a varied programme is offered. Moreover in the Fiskina: bowling alleys, reading, hobby, play and multimedia rooms. Right next to it: the spa gardens with scent and herb garden as well as spa concerts in the music pavilion, Kneipp basin, chess, nine men’s morris and boccia. The Heimathaus with ski museum gives an interesting insight into the good old times.

The short distance makes Fischen the “suburb” of Oberstdorf. The vast Allgäu skiing areas can be reached within 10 minutes. Winter is cosy in the village, but nonetheless very active: two family T-bar lifts with artificial snow and illuminated ski-run, ski-school, illuminated cross-country course (championships!), toboggan, ice-stick shooting, snow-shoe hiking tours, 50 km of cleared walking and hiking paths.
